Skills Competitions WorldSkills and EuroSkills

Competitions in promoting of professions for young people, showcasing and inspiring world-class excellence in skills and introducing youth to a variety of careers across Europe.

There are the AustrianSkills as national skills competitions and on international level like EuroSkills and WorldSkills competitions which take place alternatingly every two years. Via the AustrianSkills the competitors qualify for WorldSkills and EuroSkills, where young people have the opportunity to test their abilities and skills against other international participants.

WorldSkills 2022

On May 31 the WorldSkills Shanghai 2022 Executive Bureau and WorldSkills China  announced the cancellation of WorldSkills Shanghai 2022 due to the pandemic. WorldSkills 2022 will therefore be held at different venues in 15 countries.

In Austria, 7 competitions will be held from November 17 to 20, 2022 at the Messezentrum Salzburg together with BIM - Berufs-Informations-Messe Salzburg. The competitions will take place in the trades of concrete construction, structural engineering (bricklayers), electrical engineering, plant electrics, forwarding logistics, chemical laboratory technology and heavy vehicle technology.

EuroSkills 2021

The European vocational competition was held in Austria for the first time from September 22 to 26, 2021. Around 400 young professionals up to the age of 26 from 19 EuroSkills member countries and four other nations took part. With their performances, they showed not only their qualifications but also the diversity of professions and skills to a broad public.

Team Austria achieved 11 gold, 12 silver and 10 bronze medals as well as 4 "Medallions for Excellence" (this diploma is awarded to those participants who achieved at least 700 points or more out of the 800 maximum points to be achieved, but who are not in the medal ranks).

WorldSkills 2019

At the last WorldSkills in Kazan 2019 the Austrian Team Austria won six gold, 4 silver and one bronze medals.

Further information:

Team Austria won 21 medals at EuroSkills 2018, and thus achieved the runner-up title as the best EU nation.
