Agenda 2030 / SDG / Sustainability

Austria has committed itself to implement the United Nations 2030 Agenda and its 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

Sustainable economic development is the basis for growth and prosperity for all, and thus the most effective way to combat poverty.

The Austrian Foreign Trade Strategy published in December 2018 acknowledges the relevance of the SDGs for economic growth, the global trend for sustainability and the innovation potential of sustainable development.

The Foreign Trade Strategy of December 2018 aims to strengthen the partnership between businesses and development.

The SDGs serve as a guidance for companies and also help them to identify market opportunities and international projects.

  •  In this context, the Federal Ministry for Digital and Economic Affairs launched the SDG Business Forum 2017-2019 project with the aim to build on the strength of Austrian companies for contributing to the SDG by fostering the opportunities of Austrian companies to new markets in emerging and developing countries.
  • TRIGOS is an Austrian award for outstanding social and ecological committed companies. The aim is to present companies that are role models for responsible business conduct as well as contributing to the SDGs.
